I predicted yesterday that it wouldn’t be long before someone leaked the details of Kanye West’s meeting with Donald Trump at Trump Tower. That someone turned out to be Kanye.
The rapper tweeted that, “I wanted to meet with Trump today to discuss multicultural issues. These issues included bullying, supporting teachers, modernizing curriculums, and violence in Chicago. I feel it is important to have a direct line of communication with our future President if we truly want change.”
He then tweeted “#2024.”
What does this mean? Previously, Kanye has said he’s considering a run for president in 2020. This latest update could mean he’s decided to hold off four years so as not to run against Trump.
According to Trump’s spokesperson, Hope Hicks, Kanye requested the Tuesday meeting with the president-elect.
‘Daily Show’ pokes fun at meeting
“The Daily Show” Trevor Noah was all over this strange meeting. Naturally, he took a dig at Kanye’s new blond hair. “Yes, Donald Trump and Kanye had a little meeting today,” he said on last night’s show. “And look at Kanye West’s hair. The guy was in Trump Tower less than an hour and Trump’s people gold-plated his head already? What are they doing?! I mean, I guess it could have been worse. Kanye could have come out rocking the full Donald. I would have known he was completely gone.”
But, Noah said, even better than Kanye’s hair and the meeting itself was the news coverage of it. As soon as they got wind of it, the media dropped reports on actual important national and global issues and jumped on the most “pressing” issue.
“Oh, man! The media is the best,” Noah said. “It really makes you wonder how America ended up selecting a celebrity president when the media is so focused on the issues.”
