Kanye West visits Trump Tower, discusses ‘life’ with president-elect
It’s been a strange and stressful month for Kanye West. The rapper had a breakdown at a concert, ending it 30 minutes in, canceled the remainder of his tour, and was hospitalized for exhaustion. Now he’s out, and this morning he was spotted entering Trump Tower.
Kanye met with President-elect Donald Trump for about 30 minutes before reappearing for photos. But what did they meet about? Kanye refused to tell, saying, “I just want to take a picture right now.” A little later, Trump said he just talked “life” with Kanye. “We’ve been friends for a long time,” he added.
Before they parted ways, Trump embraced Kanye and told him, “You take care of yourself. I’ll see you soon.”
It was only last month that Kanye announced at one of his concerts that, had he voted in the presidential election, he would have voted for Trump.
“I just said that I would have voted for Donald Trump, and then I did a song and y’all sang it at the top of your lungs,” he told the audience. “That doesn’t mean that you’re a Trump supporter. That just means you OK with a celebrity having their own opinion. Or that someone else is OK to have their own opinion. That might not be your opinion, but you can still like that person or still like that person’s music.”
Does their meeting have anything to do with Kanye performing at Trump’s inauguration ball (Trump apparently is struggling to find willing performers) or otherwise lending his support? Or were they perhaps discussing Kanye’s “plans” to run for president in 2020?
Of that, the president-elect said (last year), “He’s said very nice things about me in the past … extremely positive things. He’s actually a different kind of person than people think. He’s a nice guy. I hope to run against him someday.”
Chances are, it won’t be long before the real reason behind this Trump Tower talk is leaked.
