“Cam Newton stinks” – Former NFL Man Reveals Hate Messages Directed To Patriots Quarterback

Cam Newton arrived in Boston to a mixed reaction from New England Patriots fans. Five years ago, Newton was one of the most feared quarterbacks in the NFL. He even won the 2015 NFL MVP Award with some dazzling displays over the course of the season. But fast forward to 2020 and Newton is not the same man.

His last season with Carolina Panthers saw him feature in just six games due to foot and shoulder injuries. However, reputed NFL head coach Bill Belichick took a gamble. The Patriots signed Newton to a one-year deal. Before he arrived, coach Belichick had said that Newton would have to earn the starting spot on the roster.

But recent rumors from within the league, claim that Cam is now the in-house starter ahead of Jarett Stidham and Brian Hoyer.

Pat McAfee weighs in on the Cam Newton starter debate at New England

Popular sports podcast host and former NFL star, Pat McAfee, was the latest NFL personality to weigh in on Cam Newton’s anointment as New England’s first-choice quarterback.

“There were a lot of voices in the New England area that were like Cam Newton’s not going to fit in here. Then there were people around the league that were like ‘Oh, he’s washed up’. I remember when I started talking about Cam Newton’s workout videos and I was talking about Cam Newton looking better than he’s ever looked. Cam Newton having a chip on his shoulder..I got people telling me ‘Cam Newton stinks’,” McAfee said on the show.

In his last full season as a starter, Newton threw for 3,300+ yards with a pass completion rate of 67.9 against 13 interceptions. Replacing the great Tom Brady is no small task and Cam Newton knows that the 2020 season is going to be a huge challenge. If he is anything close to  2015 form,

New England Patriots take on Miami Dolphins in their first game of the season. Assuming Cam Newton starts, this game should be a feisty affair between two NFL stalwarts. A Ryan Fitzpatrick vs Cam Newton encounter in Week one will be a mouth-watering affair for all neutral fans. We’re sure Tom Brady down in Florida will also tune in to see how his old team performs as they take the field for the first time without him in a long time.
