Colorado Avalanche fan pulls off proposal on Pride Night

The Avalanche lost 3-2 in overtime, but two fans went home victorious with a ring in hand.

The Avalanche’s Pride Night included a competition between fans Cassie and Sarah that ended in a marriage proposal.

The couple competed in a cup-stacking race complete with play-by-play.

Sarah needed a little help to get the one-cup victory — with a sneakily watchful eye from Cassie — and turned to get her prize from Colorado mascot Bernie the St. Bernard.

Sarah was not ready for her once-in-a-lifetime surprise.

Bernie held up a shirt that reads “Future Mrs. Lynch” which prompted a puzzling look on Sarah’s face before she turned around to see Cassie down on one knee.

The announcer yelled “Oh my god! It’s a proposal!”

There was no need for baited breath, as Cassie, jumping up and down with glee, said yes.

The crowd in Ball Arena cheered loudly in support of the newly engaged couple while Bernie gifted a bouquet of flowers and a big hug to celebrate the new milestone.

Colorado tweeted a video of the big moment saying “Now that’s how you do a proposal! #GoAvsGo.”

In the end, it all went according to plan.

Cassie had posted a TikTok three hours before the game, laughing and writing “When your girlfriend thinks she’s getting ready for the pride night hockey game but she’s actually getting ready for her proposal.”

She was later called out by a friend on Twitter for posting it with the possibility that Sarah would have seen it, ruining the surprise.

The future Mrs. Lynch — now Sarah’s Twitter display name — posted her own photos of night, featuring one of her skating on the ice rink after the game, sporting a sash reading “It’s a love story. Baby I said yes” with a lipstick stain.

Sarah’s ring — a pear-cut diamond with a gold band — is pictured as well with a rainbow effect edited over it.

Throughout the night, several friends in the couple’s circle and beyond celebrated the moment on Twitter.
