Don’t overthink strange start to NFL season

The lack of preseason build-up makes the Thursday kickoff to the season between the Chiefs and Texans seem strange and underhyped. But he it comes, whether you are ready or not.

Some choices are obvious: If you don’t start Patrick Mahomes, Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce or Deshaun Watson, you should immediately be booted from your league.

Others are more complicated, but don’t try to outthink yourself, especially early in the season. Yes, we warned you against drafting Clyde Edwards-Helaire in the first round. But if you did it anyway, start him. If you took David Johnson in the fourth round, he probably is your second-best RB, start him.

Save the risky plays like Sammy Watkins or Mecole Hardman or Brandin Cooks, or dart throws like Darwin Thompson, for daily formats.
