By India Today Sports Desk: Sachin Tendulkar was awestruck by Akash Madhwal after the Mumbai Indians’ (MI) pacer picked up a five-wicket haul in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 Eliminator against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Wednesday, May 25 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Madhwal shattered the record books after he finished with stupendous figures of 3.3-0-5-5 at the Chepauk. He registered the best figures in the history of the IPL playoffs. Tendulkar also heaped praise on Cameron Green and Suryakumar Yadav for their useful partnership.
Green and Suryakumar put on 66 runs off 6.2 overs after MI lost the wickets of Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan in the powerplay. Green raced his way to 41 runs off 23 balls while Suryakumar chipped in with a handy knock of 33 off 20.
Naveen-ul-Haq, who finished with figures of 4-0-38-4, got the wickets of both batters. Tendulkar also praised Nehal Wadhera, who injected momentum into MI’s innings with a knock of 23 off 12 balls.
Tendulkar took to Twitter and wrote, “What a phenomenal win for the @mipaltan in the eliminator against @LucknowIPL! The partnership between @surya_14kumar and @CameronGreen_was, knocking it out of the park! And the way Wadhera finished it off, simply sensational! Kudos to Madhwal for his bowling, he has bowled with a lot of heart!”
After opting to bat first, MI put up a decent score of 182 for the loss of eight wickets. Thereafter, the five-time champions bowled the Super Giants out for 101 in 16.3 overs.
MI are next scheduled to lock horns with Hardik Pandya’s Gujarat Titans (GT) on Friday, May 26 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
