Speaking on his Youtube channel, Chopra said Harshal had an average season with RCB and has certainly not lived up to expectations. Harshal has picked 14 wickets in 13 matches for the Bengaluru-based franchise this season.
“Harshal Patel had just an okay season. He wasn’t able to control runs at the death and the waist-height no balls and full tosses were happening too often. He has certainly not lived up to the expectations that were there from him,” said Chopra.
He went on to say that RCB team management made some baffling decisions this season while criticizing their team selection for certain matches. RCB finished sixth in the IPL 2023 points table, picking up 14 points in 14 games this season.
“Hasaranga just didn’t have form on his side. There were quite a few baffling decisions made by the management, like when they played a youngster in their final game ahead of Karn Sharma. I meant who does that when it’s a must-win game? Also the ball was wet due to the rain,” Chopra added.
The final day of the league stage saw some high-octane drama, which saw both Mumbai Indians and RCB play. Cameron Green smashed his maiden IPL century to guide MI to an eight wicket win, propelling them to fourth place in the IPL 2023 points table.
RCB had a chance to move above MI in the points table if they’d won their final league match against GT. However, Virat Kohli’s century was trumped by Shubman Gill’s 52-ball hundred as GT chased down 198 runs with six wickets and five balls remaining.
