Lady Gaga may have an expert “Poker Face,” but she’s also a master of the fresh-faced look.
While the pop star was all glammed up on the Oscars 2023 red carpet Sunday, she surprised the audience with an entirely different look for her stripped-down performance of “Hold My Hand” during the ceremony.
In addition to trading her Versace gown for ripped jeans and sneakers, the star left no trace of her bold eyeliner and red lip — the latter courtesy of her own Haus Labs Atomic Shake Lip Lacquer ($26) — leaving fans to wonder how she’d melted off her makeup so quickly.
“I just really want to know what makeup remover Lady Gaga uses,” one tweeted, while another quipped, “Sorry how was Lady Gaga able to get all this makeup off so fast with no smears? If I wash my face like 5 times I still go to bed looking like the Joker.”
Lancôme Bi-Facial Double-Action Eye Makeup Remover ($50)
While she and her team have yet to spill the secrets behind the quick change, Gaga’s makeup artist, Sarah Tanno, once told Harper’s Bazaar the singer’s a fan of Lancôme Bi-Facial Double-Action Eye Makeup Remover ($50), a formula designed to tackle even waterproof makeup.
“I like to kick it old school, I like the Lancôme Bi-Facil,” she said at the time, before praising the similarly cleansing powers of argan oil. (While she didn’t name a specific brand, Amazon’s offerings include the $10 Cliganic Organic Argan Oil, which boasts more than 25,000 largely glowing ratings).
“Gaga taught me that,” she added. “If you have heavy eye makeup or waterproof products, just straight-up argan oil is really great to just remove everything and melt it off. I learn so much from her!”
Also among Gaga’s beauty routine go-tos? Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré ($29), a rich moisturizer she once told Allure does double duty as makeup remover.

“I’m kind of old school,” the “House of Gucci” actress said in 2018. “I put it all over my face and just wipe it off.”
One thing’s for sure: If Gaga ever reveals her true Oscars beauty secrets, a new star (makeup product) will be born.
