Sam Neill secretly battled stage 3 blood cancer last year.
In his forthcoming memoir, “Did I Ever Tell You This?“, the “Jurassic Park” star explains that he first noticed swollen glands while doing press for “Jurassic World Dominion” in March 2022.
He was soon diagnosed with angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma.
“The thing is, I’m crook. Possibly dying,” the actor, 75, writes in chapter 1. “I may have to speed this up.”
Although he is now cancer-free, the UK native will receive monthly treatments of a new chemotherapy drug for the rest of his life.
“I can’t pretend that the last year hasn’t had its dark moments,” he told The Guardian on Friday.
“But those dark moments throw the light into sharp relief, you know, and have made me grateful for every day and immensely grateful for all my friends.”
Neill added that he’s “just pleased to be alive.”
While undergoing treatment, the “Piano” star said he found himself “with nothing to do,” as he’s so “used to working” and “being with people every day.”
“And suddenly, I was deprived of that,” he recalled to the outlet. “And I thought, ‘What am I going to do?’”

He soon began journaling about his life and experiences, though he “never had any intention to write a book.”
The project, however, gave him a sense of purpose.
“As I went on and kept writing, I realized it was actually sort of giving me a reason to live, and I would go to bed thinking, ‘I’ll write about that tomorrow … that will entertain me,’” he shared.
“And so it was a lifesaver, really, because I couldn’t have gone through that with nothing to do, you know?”
“Did I Ever Tell You This?” hits bookshelves on Tuesday.
