Legendary MMA Regulator Marc Ratner to Be Inducted to the UFC Hall of Fame

The UFC is all set to include regulatory pioneer Marc Ratner in the UFC hall of fame. The company announced the news during the broadcast of the UFC 255 card on Saturday night. Ratner is the former executive director of the Nevada State Athletic Commission. The organization has been extremely influential for boxing’s golden era.

Ratner joined the UFC back in 2006. His efforts helped MMA regulate across the globe and made the sport global as it is today. He has already secured his place in multiple the boxing Hall of Fame. Now, in recognition of his services to MMA, he will join the UFC’s Hall of Fame.

Ratner joined NSAC back in 1985 and became the executive director by 1992. His first famous involvement came in 1997 when he handled the Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield ear-biting incident.

Marc Ratner has been a global pioneer for MMA

Former UFC CEO Lorenzo Fertitta said, “Marc Ratner is one of the most significant figures responsible for the continued growth and popularity of combat sports. As one of the most influential and respected regulators in combat sports, Marc’s contributions to boxing and mixed martial arts over the past three decades are immeasurable, and his impact will continue to shape the landscape for years to come. He is a friend of great character and integrity, and he will be a great addition to the UFC Hall of Fame.

Ratner helped MMA get legalized globally across all the commissions.

Ratner is already a member of the boxing hall of fame

Ratner was also an NCAA division-1 football official. He still organizes high school sports across the US. Hh was previously included in the International Boxing Hall of fame back in 2016. Without his efforts, legalizing the sport of MMA across all the states would have taken much more time. Over 30 years of involvement with the NSAC and his rigorous work toward combat sport, makes him one of the most influential personnel of the sport.

UFC COO Lawrence Epstein said, “Marc Ratner is the most experienced and respected combat sports regulator in history. The sport of mixed martial arts and UFC do not exist in its current form without his contributions.

It is very true that without his efforts the recognition for the sport of MMA would have been nowhere near it is today.

Ratner’s induction will take place in 2021. This is because the UFC is not on board with the idea of conducting such a big event in 2020 amidst this global pandemic.
