Mike Francesa floats Odell Beckham trade news in strange Twitter rant

Mike Francesa might be losing his touch as a news-breaker.

The former king of New York sports radio dropped an Odell Beckham Jr. bombshell on Tuesday morning, tweeting the Browns were looking to trade the former Giant.

“I hear Browns, who are clueless, looking to trade Odell,” he tweeted.

That, however, was quickly shot down.

NFL reporter Benjamin Allbright tweeted, “Source tells me report of Browns actively shopping Odell Beckham Jr is false.”

Francesa was a fierce critic of Beckham when he was a Giants player. Since getting traded to the Browns, Beckham has failed to live up to expectations, catching 74 passes for 1,035 yards and four touchdowns last season. In the opener on Sunday, he caught three passes for 22 yards in an ugly blowout loss to the Ravens.

Oddly, Francesa defended Beckham after his initial tweeting, writing, “they are asking [for] a lot. I don’t often defend Beckham, but he isn’t the problem.”

Francesa then quickly added, “I was criticized years ago for saying I wouldn’t go near Beckham, [Antonio] Brown or [Le’Veon] Bell. How they doing?”

"This Year is Special" - Rafael Nadal After His Opening Round Win at French Open 2020

To topple the king, one needs an army comprising able soldiers. To topple the “King of Clay,” one needs to have all the necessary skills as well as a wealth of luck. Rafael Nadal started his French Open 2020 journey with a straight-set win against Egor Gerasimov of Belarus. The 12 times Roland Garros Champion outclassed the 27-year-old in the Philippe Chatrier Court in Paris.

The 34-year-old Spaniard is on his quest to clinch his 13th French Open title to take his Grand Slam tally to 20. However, it is anticipated that the run won’t be easy for Rafael Nadal. The tournament has been delayed due to the COVID-19 situation, the sun-baked clay court is damp owing to the rain, and the temperature is on the cooler side.

Keeping aside all the adversities, Nadal clinched his first win in the French Open 2020. The Belarusian was no match for the clay-court artisan who delivered a clinical performance.

The French Open has been the most special venue in his career. Undoubtedly, Nadal is happy to be back home.

We’re here to try our best and for me, this year is as special as everyone that I’m here in Roland Garros. I’m gonna try my best. Happy to be in the second round, a good start, and now is the moment to come back to the hotel and have a little practice for tomorrow and try to be ready for the second round,” he stated.

Rafael Nadal claims the first match in style

Going into the match, Nadal was the clear favorite to steer clear ahead of his opponent. Although Roland Garros has been the audience of some roller-coaster matches, it was a rather easy win for the World number 2.

Displaying his refined skill set, Nadal wasted no time in getting on top of his opponent. The message was loud and clear; he was here to win.

Nadal started off his journey with a 6-4 win over his opponent. Even though Gerasimov displayed some real intent, it faded away in front of the Spaniard. Nadal, who knows every nook and corner of Roland Garros, looked confident and in exquisite touch.

His lethal service and strong returns did the job for him as he took the second set in a similar fashion. Two sets up, Nadal was going for the last lap to proceed to the second round.

While Egor gave some fight in the first two sets, Nadal drove the final nail on the coffin by claiming the final set 6-2.

The straight-set victory saw Nadal stride towards the second round, beaming with confidence. He’ll be facing Mackenzie McDonald of the United States in the second round.

NBA Trade Rumors: Victor Oladipo Set to Leave Indiana Pacers

The Indiana Pacers did well in the 2019/20 NBA regular season but faced an embarrassing defeat in the Playoffs. They were swept by the Miami Heat in the first round, which forced the management to sack Head Coach Nate McMillan. Now, they might see their star player Victor Oladipo exit the team this offseason.

Oladipo’s rumored decision to leave has taken everyone by surprise. The 28-year-old has been at Indiana since 2017 and still has a year left in his contract. However, after multiple first-round playoff exits, the explosive guard has decided to take his talents elsewhere.

The sensational news about Oladipo wanting to ‘move on’ came out from ‘The Athletic’s’ Jared Weiss, which then blew up within a matter of minutes. It is indeed sensational news that Oladipo wants to leave, and a lot of rumors flew by right after the Pacers’ playoff exit.

Oladipo is a 2-time All-Star and the NBA’s Most Improved Player in 2016. The #2 pick in the 2013 draft has earned himself a reputation in the league for his standout performances as a Pacer.

After Paul George’s trade, Oladipo came in as the Pacers’ primary player and has lived up to his responsibilities. After moving to Indiana in 2017, Oladipo’s numbers instantly went up.

From averaging less than 16.0 points a game with the Thunder, the Indiana University alum sprung his numbers up in drastic fashion. In his first season as a Pacer, Oladipo averaged 23.1 points a game and led the league in steals.

Where should Victor Oladipo land after moving from the Indiana Pacers?

A player like Oladipo hitting the market will indeed lure a few teams to make an offer. While there are considerable trade deals that can work, which team would best suit a player like Victor Oladipo?

There are plenty of teams in contention. A brilliant two-way player like Oladipo would fit well just about anywhere he goes. However, the Dallas Mavericks seem like a perfect destination for the 6’4” guard. He can ease into the roster and reduce the burden on Luka Doncic.

What’s more, the Miami Heat would be bolstered with a player like Oladipo on their roster. But would the team be willing to part with a few assets to bring Oladipo in? With the rhythm they’re currently in, it seems unlikely.

The Toronto Raptors can jump into the race and swiftly sign the 28-year-old on one condition. If Fred VanVleet decides to opt-out of his contract extension similar to Oladipo, then the 2019 NBA champs can move in to bring the Indiana Pacers guard to their team.

“Who Is Nielsen” – Jorge Masvidal Not Impressed With the World’s Most Marketable Athletes Rankings

"Who Is Nielsen" - Jorge Masvidal Not Impressed With the World’s Most Marketable Athletes Rankings

Combat sport athletes have made their mark on SportPro’s list of the World’s 50 Most Marketable Athletes. While the list features several big names from the world of boxing and MMA, their order is a bit surprising, even for UFC welterweight Jorge Masvidal.

Powered by Nielsen, the list features soccer icon Lionel Messi on the top. The highest-ranked combat athlete on the list is UFC lightweight kingpin Khabib Nurmagomedov. Despite not fighting in the year 2020, the Russian has been in news a lot.

He was booked to fight Tony Ferguson in April, but the fight fell through due to the pandemic. The death of his father in the month of July also came as a shock for all his fans.

The only other MMA figure on the list is Jorge Masvidal, who ranked in at 24. The UFC welterweight took the MMA world by storm with his three back-to-back victories last year. Amidst a rift with the UFC over a pay dispute, Masvidal then stepped in at a short notice to face UFC welterweight champ Kamaru Usman at UFC 251.

While he didn’t win the fight, the narrative of him stepping in on short notice and going five rounds with a fully prepared champ gained him a lot of praise. Moreover, after Masvidal came to know that only two MMA athletes have cracked into the list, ‘Gamebred’ wasn’t impressed with the same.

22-year-old Ryan Garcia acquires the top-spot among boxers on the list

The work put in by Ryan Garcia on his social media posts have finally paid off. Coming in at No. 12, WBC Silver lightweight champ is the highest-ranked boxer on the list. Garcia’s Instagram videos where he shows-off his insanely fast hands and reflex skills have attracted millions of followers from around the globe.

The other two boxers who complete the list are heavyweight juggernauts Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury. The two are ranked side-by-side at 31 and 32.

Fury stepped in the ring earlier this year when he defeated Deontay Wilder in the seventh round of their rematch. Meanwhile, Anthony Joshua last fought and defeated Andy Ruiz Jr. last year in Abu Dhabi. The two have also signed a contract to fight each other if they get past their respective mandatory challengers.

The ranking of the athlete’s marketability was made after assigning them a score. Called the Influencer Selection and Measurement Framework, the methodology draws on vast amounts of social media data to generate an Athlete Influencer Score comprising four key data points: relevance, reach, return, and resonance.
