Toronto Blue Jays vs. Tampa Bay Rays
Yusei Kikuchi will take the mound for the Blue Jays tonight. He’s a lefty with a 5.25 xFIP over the last month. Kikuchi has allowed 46.8% of hard contact when balls are put into play and has only earned 35.4% of ground balls in the same time span.
His last 85 righties faced have hit a .385 wOBA and ISO of .256. He’ll take on a Rays lineup that has watched righties combine for a .240 ISO against lefties in the last month. The main contributor has been Randy Arozarena.
In his last 11 plate appearances against lefties, Randy Arozarena has hit a .667 ISO and wOBA of .556. He’s also hit 83.3% of balls into the air against lefties in the last month. I’ve got him totaling at least two total bases tonight.
Bet: Randy Arozarena Over 1.5 Total Bases (+105)
San Diego Padres vs. Washington Nationals
Ryan Weathers will get the start for the Padres tonight. He’s replacing an injured Seth Lugo. Weathers has a 7.81 xFIP over the last month through 25 plate appearances. He’s struck out just 12% of batters and has walked 16%. Righties have hit a .286 ISO against Weathers through their last 17 plate appearances.
Washington’s lineup isn’t going to blow any pitcher away. But the Nationals have combined to hit 24.1% of line drives against lefties and have limited ground balls and strikeouts at a solid rate.
Lane Thomas, who will lead things off for Washington, has a .448 ISO and wOBA of .467 against lefties over his last 33 plate appearances. He’s smacked 25% of line drives and rarely hits ground balls against lefties. He should be able to find the gap against Weathers at least tonight.
Bet: Lane Thomas Over 1.5 Total Bases (-115)
Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Atlanta Braves
Atlanta will send out Bryce Elder for tonight’s game. He’s a righty who has struggled against lefties over the last month. Elder has allowed a .378 wOBA and ISO of .262 over his last 46 plate appearances against lefties.
He’ll take on Freddie Freeman, one of the most powerful lefties in the game. Freeman has a .292 ISO and wOBA of .480 against his last 83 righties faced. Freeman has slugged 29% of line drives and has a BABIP of .458. That should help him earn multiple hits or one extra-base hit to help get us Over 1.5 total bases.
Bet: Freddie Freeman Over 1.5 Total Bases (-130)
