In the second qualifier between Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium, GT, batting first, put 233/3 on the board courtesy of another IPL century by Shubman Gill.
The 23-year-old smashed his third hundred in four games and has put Gujarat in a comforting situation in the game.
Chasing the target, Mumbai got off to the worst possible start, as they lost three wickets in the powerplay. Mohammed Shami, who is the leading wicket-taker this season, shone again with the ball for the defending champions as the 32-year-old took two wickets in the powerplay.
With the feat, Shami scripted a massive record, as the right-arm quick now has the most wickets picked in the powerplay of an IPL season.
