Mona Shores blanks Grand Haven in opening round of Division 1 soccer districts

GRAND HAVEN – The Mona Shores girls soccer team advanced through the first round of the Division 1 district tournament with a 2-0 victory against Grand Haven on Wednesday.

Ava Freye netted both scores for the Sailors with assists from Lilly Houle and Shay Norden.

Goalkeeper Jersey VanderWall earned her 11th shutout of the season.

Mona Shores (13-4-1) will take on No. 4-ranked Hudsonville on Tuesday in the district semifinal round.
