Nashville Soccer Club Hosts Columbus Crew at GEODIS Park on Sunday

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Nashville Soccer Club (7W-3L-4D, 25 pts.), currently in second place in the Eastern Conference with the best goal differential at +10, will host Columbus Crew at 7:30 p.m. CT on Sunday at GEODIS Park.


A win on Sunday will set a new record for Nashville with four consecutive home victories. The Boys in Gold have currently won three home matches in a row four times in club history.

The Boys in Gold are currently riding a six-match unbeaten streak, owning a 4W-0L-2D record in that stretch. Nashville SC has outscored its opponents 12-5 in the unbeaten streak, not allowing more than one goal.

Hany Mukhtar continues to shine for Nashville SC, after becoming the fifth fastest player in MLS history to produce 50 regular season career goals and 30 career assists, behind only Carlos Vela (69 games), Sebastian Giovinco (78 games), Robbie Keane (82 games) and Jamie Moreno (92).

Mukhtar has 51 MLS regular season goals and 33 assists in 93 career matches. The German is tied with Thiago Almada for the league lead in goal contributions with 14 (Mukhtar: 8 goals, 6 assists; Almada: 6 goals, 8 assists). Since 2022 Mukhtar has scored 31 goals and recorded 17 assists, the most of any player in MLS.

Nashville SC has been dominant on the defensive side of the ball this season, allowing the fewest goals in MLS with nine this season (LAFC has allowed the second fewest goals with 10 in two fewer matches played). Goalkeeper Joe Willis has been in top form for the defense in 2023, having the highest save percentage in MLS at 83.3%.

Earlier this afternoon, Head Coach Gary Smith and midfielder Sean Davis previewed Sunday’s contest against Columbus. Coach Smith addressed the tremendous talent Columbus has and the excellent form his side is on right now in league play. Smith also praised his side for the results they’ve earned during a difficult stretch of matches in a condensed timeframe.

Davis spoke about the club’s success at GEODIS Park this year compared to last season and the difference within those results. Davis also spoke about the tough test that awaits the squad on Sunday against Columbus. Footage from their availability can be found here.

Sunday’s match will serve as PRIDE night as Nashville SC will celebrate the LGBTQ+ community and raise funds in support. Fans will be able to purchase the official 2023 PRIDE Patch with 100% of the proceeds benefiting the Tennessee Pride Chamber, along with exclusive NSC PRIDE Night merchandise inside of GEODIS Park while supplies last.

Upon arrival, fans can participate in the PRIDE Plaza Party on the North Plaza of GEODIS Park which will feature vendors, artists, allies, and music by DJ Manrelic. Prior to kickoff, guests from Franklin Pride will carry the Pride flag out to midfield before the anthem.
