Popular Sportscaster Claims Patrick Mahomes Is 'One Of The Luckiest Dudes'

Kansas City Chiefs pulled off a stunning comeback to outplay Kyle Shanahan’s San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LIV. Major credit to that will be down to a fourth-quarter surge powered by star quarterback, Patrick Mahomes. The young shot-caller was at the center of things as the Chiefs fought from behind to beat the 49ers by a 31-20 scoreline. Deservedly, Mahomes bagged the Super Bowl MVP award for his exploits in Miami on that fateful night.

But experts argued that Mahomes would not have been able to pull off that miraculous comeback if it were not for his star supporting cast. Popular American sportscaster, Stephen A Smith, was one of them. Here’s what he said about the 2018 NFL MVP who recently signed a mammoth 10-year contract extension worth more than $450 million.

Stephen Smith says Patrick Mahomes is blessed with an all-star supporting cast

Stephen Smith was at it once again as he went on a lengthy rant explaining why Kansas City Chiefs’ star quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, is one of the luckiest players in the NFL.

He said, “Let me be very, very clear about this…We know he’s phenomenal, mad respect and credit to the brother, he got a contract that was close to half a billion dollars even though less than $150 million is guaranteed according to calculations. Don’t matter, he deserves every penny he gets, no question about it but we’re not going to sit up here and act like he’s not one of the luckiest dudes either.”

“Tyreek Hill is a bad brother…Travis Kelce, my brother from another mother, excellent selections by the way..The point is Travis Kelce is a special brother. Top two tight end in football, in some people’s minds like myself, he’s number one with George Kittle a close second instead of vice versa. Sammy Watkins is no scrub, Mecole Hardman is no scrub, Andy Reid is an elite play-caller…I mean how many weapons do you need if you’re a quarterback for crying out loud?” Smith said on the show.

We will find out if Smith’s words are true or not as we edge closer to the start of the 2020 season. Kansas City Chiefs start their title defense with an opening day encounter against Houston Texans on September 11, 2020. Deshaun Watson-led Texans are a top team and will present a stern test for Andy Reid’s boys in Week one. Will the Missouri-based franchise make it to the Super Bowl once again? watch this space for more.
