The 23-year-old right-handed batter scored 129 runs from just 60 balls and helped his side reach the IPL 2023 final. Shubman Gill is having the form of his life in 2023. After scoring centuries in all three formats of the game in the first quarter of this year, Shubman continued his red-hot form in IPL 2023 as well and is now leading the highest run-getters chart. The 23-year-old batter from Punjab, who represents Gujarat Titans in the cash-rich league, has hammered a total of 851 runs in 16 matches of the IPL 2023 played so far. In the last four matches, he has scored three centuries, with the latest one coming against five-time champions Mumbai Indians on Friday (May 26) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

In the second qualifier match of the IPL 2023, Gill made a cautious start, but once his eyes got settled, he hammered MI bowlers all around the park and helped his side post a massive total of 233 runs on the board for the loss of three wickets, which in the end proved to be enough to take them through to the final. MI looked good in the run chase despite losing two early wickets, but Mohit Sharma’s five-wicket haul in the second half of MI’s innings crushed their hopes of securing a place in the final against archrivals Chennai Super Kings.

For the Titans, Mohit registered figures of 5 for 10 in 2.2 overs, but his superb show got overshadowed by Gill’s batting masterclass. The right-handed batter faced a total of 60 balls and, with the help of 10 sixes and seven fours, hammered 129 runs. His total of 129 runs was his best T20 score ever and the second highest by an Indian batter in the history of the IPL.
