Braxton Berrios isn’t the only one who has a bone to pick with “Madden.”
Sophia Culpo, the model girlfriend of the Jets wide receiver, recently joined the chorus of fans — not to mention Berrios himself — who have griped about the All-Pro’s appearance in the latest “Madden” video game, remarking how the avatar looks nothing like the player.
“It’s 2022 I can get my face printed onto my latte better than this,” Culpo wrote Wednesday in an Instagram Story, which included a photo from the @nyj_matt Twitter account that featured side-by-sides of the avatar and Berrios, 26, who called it “egregious.”
In a separate post, Culpo — who has been dating Berrios for more than a year — quipped, “I’ve been catfished.”
Berrios’ animation has been widely mocked on Twitter since the photos first emerged online, with one account likening the avatar to a “Sopranos reject.”
“Are we f–king serious,” one account remarked, while another stated, “am i trippin or does he kinda look like” actor Tobey Maguire.
Berrios even shared a few responses to the animation Wednesday on his Instagram story, where he joked, “Madden has it out for me I’m convinced.”
As for Berrios’ real-life role on the field, he’s readying for his fourth season with the Jets, having signed a two-year, $12 extension with in March, and is currently doing so without starting quarterback Zach Wilson, who underwent arthroscopic knee surgery in Los Angeles on Tuesday, which was deemed a success. Though Wilson’s timeline for recovery is unclear, it’s anticipated that the 23-year-old second-year pro will miss two to four weeks.
The Jets will host the Ravens in their season opener on Sunday, Sept. 11.
