As commented by Aaron Boone on Sunday, there could be a series of doubleheaders in the upcoming weekend. After the postponing of the weekend matchup for the Yankees-Mets game at the Citi Field, the Yankees had to work out for 2 days straight at the Yankee Stadium.
This happened due to the fact that two COVID positive cases at the premise delayed the schedule. With the Monday match going haywire, it would have been nice to have a minimum of two games scheduled for the same day. At least there could be one from the two doubleheaders organized for the upcoming weekend.
Having five games in a row of three days could be a tad labor-intensive, but it sure would be fun for the team. Plus, this series of games would have a major impact on the New York game clubs. Indications observed on Sunday evening suggested that Team Mets have managed to quarantine themselves since Thursday after learning about the misfortune during their Miami stay.
The team is now avoiding any further setbacks by getting the traveling party tested, while the result of the same fortunately came negative. There were also talks about holding a Monday workout session at the Citi Field prior to getting back to action by Tuesday.
