<p><em>Support our high school sports coverage by becoming a digital subscriber. <a href=”https://checkout.ocregister.com/subscriptionpanel”>Subscribe now</a></em></p><hr /><p>Tesoro’s boys golf team produced its own Michael Block moment on Wednesday, and then heard about it from the man who set the golfing world abuzz.</p><p>The Titans’ stage wasn’t as grand as the PGA Championship, but it was their biggest moment so far.</p><p>Keegan Gicking recorded a long, double eagle or “albatross” on the par-5 16th hole to help Tesoro capture its first CIF-SCGA SoCal regional tournament title with a 9-under-par score of 361 at Los Serranos Golf Club in Chino Hills.</p><p>At the PGA Championship on Sunday, Block — who has two sons on the Tesoro golf team — made his own long shot by acing the 15th hole in Rochester, N.Y. The shot capped an unlikely run by the head golf professional at Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club in Mission Viejo to a 15th-place finish.</p><p>https://twitter.com/espn/status/1660396830583029760</p><p>Block became a fan favorite, receiving praise from Michael Jordan among others. But on Wednesday, he offered the congratulations to Tesoro and specifically Gicking in a video message he sent from Texas, where he is preparing for the PGA event at Colonial.</p><p>”We are all on cloud nine,” said Titans coach Van Johnstone, whose team qualified for the CIF State championships for the first time. “Of course the whole team is excited and the Block brothers are even more so with their father doing so well at the PGA Championship.”</p><p>”It’s a big win for our program,” the coach added.</p><p>Tesoro notched the victory by playing its best on the par-5 16th. The Titans played the 513-yard hole in 7-under-par as a team.</p><p>”One hole did it all,” said Johnstone, whose team outdistanced runner-up Torrey Pines by four strokes for the title.</p><p>Block’s son Ethan eagled the 16th en route to a 3-under-par 71. Zander Grant birdied the hole on his way to a 71.</p><p>Block’s son Dylan also birdied the 16th to finish at 2-under-par 72, which matched Gicking.</p><p>Will Moos rounded out Tesoro’s lineup with a 1-over-par 75. He recorded par on the 16th.</p><p>Capistrano Valley Christian’s Luke Powell shot a 6-under-par 68 to lead Orange County individuals with a third-place finish.</p><p>The UCLA commit and Stephen Luo of Anaheim Discovery Christian, who tied for fourth with a 70, also qualified for the state finals May 31 at Poppy Hills in Pebble Beach.</p><p>Colin Li of Torrey Pines won the individual title with an 8-under-par 66.</p><p>
