The ‘MLB active career leaders in strikeouts’ quiz

New York Yankees ace Gerrit Cole is having another spectacular season in the Bronx, and his most recent achievement puts into perspective just how good he’s been since his MLB debut a decade ago. On Tuesday, Cole struck out a season-low two batters, but that was all he needed to become the third-fastest pitcher to record 2,000 career Ks. Cole has been one of best pitchers, if not the best, in baseball over the last half-decade, but he might actually be having his best season in pinstripes. Vegas currently has Cole favored to win the first Cy Young of his illustrious career. While individual accolades are nice, it goes without saying that the 32-year-old Yankees ace would forgo a Cy Young if it meant he could help the Bronx Bombers win World Series No. 28 come October.

Which brings us to today’s quiz of the day. As of May 2023, 25 pitchers currently on MLB rosters have recorded more than 1,200 career strikeouts, including Cole, who now has exactly 2,000 whiffs on his résumé. So with that in mind, how many of the 25 can you name in five minutes?

Good luck!
