Trey Mancini’s first three hits with Astros all home runs, including grand slam

That’s how you make a good first impression.

Trey Mancini’s first three hits with the Astros have all been booming home runs.

Houston acquired the slugging DH in a trade with the Orioles on Monday.

Mancini notched his first hit with Houston on Wednesday, crushing a two-run shot to left field against the Red Sox. Then, on Friday night against the Guardians in Cleveland, the 30-year-old clubbed a solo home run in the second inning before following with a grand slam in the third.

Mancini had just 10 home runs in 354 at bats this year for the Orioles, though he was in part victimized by the revamped left field dimensions at Camden Yards.

The Astros acquired Mancini, along with Boston’s Christian Vazquez, to fortify the middle of their order with right-handed power bats. The early returns on Mancini have been positive.
