Trump approves Biden to receive presidential intelligence briefs

President Trump has approved President-elect Joe Biden to receive classified presidential daily briefs, or PDBs, a White House official tells The Post.

Trump approved the sharing of intelligence with Biden after authorizing the General Services Administration on Monday to ascertain that Biden is president-elect, beginning a formal transition.

Biden objected in recent weeks to being blocked from the classified briefings, though Vice President-elect Kamala Harris, a California Democratic senator, continued to receive similar information on the Senate intelligence committee.

It’s unclear when the first briefing for Biden will occur.

Although Trump has not conceded the Nov. 3 election to Biden as he pursues litigation and recounts in swing states, he tweeted Monday that allowing the transition to begin was “in the best interest of our Country.”

The White House budget office on Monday night signed off on apportionment of funds for Biden transition after GSA ascertained that Biden is president-elect, senior administration officials told The Post.

Biden spokesmen did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar separately said Tuesday that his agency is providing materials to Biden, including on the COVID-19 pandemic, and vowed a “professional, cooperative and collaborative” transition. Deputy surgeon general Rear Admiral Erica Schwartz reached out to Biden’s team on Monday, Azar said.
