Dillian Whyte has seemingly accepted his loss against Alexander Povetkin and is ready to run it back inside the squared circle. ‘The Body Snatcher,’ who bills himself as a better boxer than Povetkin, got knocked out when the pair met each other on August 22.
However, Whyte was bossing the fight until he ate a devastating uppercut from Povetkin in the fifth round. That said, Dillian Whyte has gotten back to the gym and has kicked off his training sessions already.
Dillian Whyte is hunting a rematch against Alexander Povetkin
Whyte, who suffered the second loss of his pro career against Povetkin, has asked for an immediate rematch. Speaking with IFL TV, he revealed how he got complacent mid-fight and got caught with Povetkin’s punch.
But if you ask him who was the dominator, Whyte will put forth his name. Well, it makes sense. ‘The Body Snatcher’ was dominating on paper, securing two big knockdowns in the fight. It was the fifth round and one left uppercut that turned the tables instantly.
Despite that, Whyte stunned his fans with a training video on social media.
Back in the trap house letting of some steam today can’t wait to get training camp back in full swing let’s go baby @eddiehearn @matchroomboxing @iqxaviermiller @michael_magichands @pestersuperstar @sim0nevans #WHYTEPOVETKIN2 pic.twitter.com/tUGDpscsyT

Whyte has showcased his intense left hooks in the video with the caption, “Back in the trap house letting of some steam today can’t wait to get training camp back in full swing let’s go baby”. The British heavyweight has also tagged Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Boxing in the tweet, citing the possibility of Whyte vs Povetkin 2 for the fans.
The heavyweight landscape has changed
Dillian Whyte could have bagged an opportunity to face the winner of Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder with a successful interim title defense against Povetkin.
However, things have changed and the Briton will now have to re-encounter his past opponent, Alexander Povetkin. If he avenges the loss, we can expect a potential showdown between him and the WBC Heavyweight champion shortly. But it is easier said than done. At least that’s what the boxing fans believe after witnessing the original contest on August 22.
