Watch: Dustin Poirier Teases Return to UFC Against Tony Ferguson

When it comes to most exciting fighters in the UFC, Dustin Poirier and Tony Ferguson are few of the names that come to mind. All the fans wait eagerly when any of their fights are announced as everyone knows it will be a barn burner as both fighters leave it all on the line for the fans.

Recently, Poirier got the fans’ excitement level through the roof as he tagged Tony Ferguson in one of his tweets.

This tweet came after media personnel asked Dana White whether the UFC got a fight lined up for Tony Ferguson. To which Dana White replied, “We do.” On asking whether it was Dustin Poirier, he said, “Probably.” It comes as no surprise that knowing about this potential match-up has got the fight fans all hyped up.

Dustin Poirier and Tony Ferguson: What have they been up to?

Dustin is one of the top contenders in the lightweight division and is coming off a unanimous decision victory over Dan Hooker in a five-round slugfest. The former interim lightweight champion also faced the current champion of the division, Khabib Nurmagomedov. Unfortunately, Poirier lost by a rear-naked choke in the third round.

Meanwhile, Ferguson is coming off a fifth-round TKO loss in a brutal beatdown against Justin Gaethje. This bout was for the interim lightweight championship. Fans have been blaming the loss on his double weight cut before the bout. They believe that the weight cut ‘drained him.’ Tony has been the interim champion in the past but was stripped of his title when he pulled out because of an injury.

White is looking to put this fight on the undercard of UFC 254, which will be main-evented by Khabib and Gaethje. With already so many great fights scheduled for UFC 254, the addition of this potential fight of the year candidate could make it the most stacked card of 2020.
