Why has the shhh celebration been removed from FIFA 21?

Anticipation has been building for the release of FIFA 21 on October 9, with a handful of new features and even sleeker, more realistic gameplay all promised.

One thing that won’t be returning, however, is the massively unpopular ‘shhh’ celebration that has been a mainstay of FIFA games in editions past.

So why has it been removed now? Goal takes a look.

Why is the shhh celebration no longer in FIFA 21?

The shhh celebration will be removed starting with the release of FIFA 21 and all ongoing versions due to the overwhelmingly negative reception it had from gamers.

The celebration in FIFA was infamous in that users who activated the celebration after scoring a goal would subsequently time-waste excessively, therefore stalling play with their gloating.

EA Sports eradicated the celebration in order to minimise potential ‘toxic’ behaviour displayed by gamers with their taunting of the opposition, leading to great annoyance and frustration.

In real life, ‘shush’ celebration has been used by footballers to silence opposition fans or even their own individual critics.

But going forward, there will be no such celebration to be used within FIFA, with EA Sports gameplay producer Sam Rivera having stated that such actions were taken after listening to calls from FIFA gamers.

“We were told by the community that there’s toxic behaviours in the game, and we wanted to make sure we removed them,” said Rivera.

“So we removed some of the celebrations that people thought were not the best idea to have in the game.”

Additionally, the ‘pigeon’ and ‘dab’ celebrations could also be under threat of removal.

What other celebrations have been removed in FIFA 21?

Along with the shhh celebration, the A-OK celebration as made famous by Dele Alli will not make a reappearance.

EA Sports

The celebration has been retired after just one year following its debut in FIFA 20, potentially due to the fact that the Tottenham player no longer celebrates his goals in such a manner in reality.

While those two celebrations have been erased, there are still a handful of new goal celebrations to be introduced in FIFA 21.

Erling Haaland’s trademark cross-legged celebration will be introduced for the October 9 release, as well as cover star Kylian Mbappe’s ‘cry-baby’ pose.

Wimbledon Championships 2021 Set to Get Underway Regardless of Spectator Policy

Wimbledon will return in 2021 after the organizers were forced to cancel this year’s edition due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The scheduled date as of now is 28th June 2021. What is surprising is that sources have confirmed that the Grand Slam will take place with or without spectators.

This is the first time since the Second World War that the tournament didn’t take place in a year. With the French Open 2020 postponed to early September and October, fans were hopeful that Wimbledon would take place later in the year as well. That was not the case, however. And now, the organizers have announced it will be played between 28th June to 11th July 2021.

Former World No.1 Andy Murray has also expressed his desire for Wimbledon to take place. The Brit surely wants to play in his homeland and the event where he has picked up two trophies. The 2-time Wimbledon champion recently lost to Stan Wawrinka in straight sets at Round 1 of the French Open 2020.

A great Initiative by Wimbledon in 2020

As Wimbledon did not take place in 2020, The All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC) decided to divert some funds to help those most affected by the pandemic. The money will help vulnerable people at the local, national, and international levels. This included financial help of £1.2m, donations of strawberries, towels, and balls intended for The Championships, and the distribution of daily hot meals to the needy ones.

The managing body also allocated the prize money of the tournament to 620 players. These were players whose world ranking was sufficient to gain them entry into Wimbledon 2020 by direct acceptance or through the qualifying event.

The AELTC also began to consider scenarios regarding the event in 2021. They also watched other Grand Slam events closely and to learn how they were managing them. The body also took a decision that it would not be staging any Public Ballot for Wimbledon 2021.

The stage is thus set for the 134th edition of Grand Slam in 2021. Fans will be excited to witness yet another electrifying Grand Slam on the grass next year.

Kyle Larson

Recently, there were reports of Kyle Larson turning up in Philadelphia. It is worth noting that a lot of top NASCAR figures are present in the city for a meeting regarding the Urban Youth Racing School. Larson is in no way involved with the school. Instead, he has a different subject to discuss- his potential return to the sport.

Talking about the school, it was founded in 1998 with the aim to provide education for underprivileged children. Aside from racing and NASCAR ties, it also focuses on imparting education in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The school largely caters to children between the ages of 8 to 18.

The school boasts of more than 6,000 students participating in UYRS programs. As a further incentive, high-performing students earn trips to a New Jersey track with go-karts and other smaller vehicles.

Can Kyle Larson successfully petition NASCAR for a return?

Larson has been out of action for more than six months, as he is serving a suspension. Larson got into a heap of trouble with NASCAR for using a racial slur during an online race.

NASCAR clearly did not appreciate that, so they slapped him with a suspension. His employers, the Chip Ganassi Racing team, went a step further and fired him on the spot.

Since then, the repentant 28-year-old has been trying to earn a seat back in the sport. NASCAR has confirmed that they are in talks with the driver for a potential return. So it only makes sense that Larson has turned up at Philadelphia to try and convince Phelps to get him back to the sport.

So far, there has been no formal request for his reinstatement; however, there are discussions surrounding his potential reinstatement. He has kept himself occupied with sprint car races so as to hone his craft during these tough times.

Significant leak reveals seven upcoming Apex Legends characters

Recently, u/Prome1heus shared an image of a leaked character select screen showing all the new legends up until the next seven seasons. The first legend seen in the picture after Rampart is Valk, whose abilities have already been subject to leaks and speculation. Next up are Blisk and Ash, for Season 8 and 9, respectively. Both of them are Titanfall 2 characters, and the prospect of them coming to the Apex Games is fascinating.

Moving onwards, Horizon is the proposed legend for Season 10. Dataminers discovered clues of this character in the current season’s game files. Meanwhile, Season 11 has Fuse lined up. So far, no one has spotted mentions of this legend in the game files yet, according to WaterGotHim.

Finally, Firebug and Husaria are the planned legends for Season 12 and 13, respectively. Apart from the name listings, the leaked character screen also revealed the different classes for the legends. While Valk, Ash, Horizon, Fuse, and Husaria appear to be Offensive Legends, Blisk and Firebug seem to belong to the Recon Class.

The planned lineup is indeed exciting, but it seems there are no plans for defensive or support characters. However, game development is subject to frequent changes, and Respawn can make adjustments anytime they want. Although the leak provides a good first look at Apex’s future roster, nothing is confirmed yet. The details are somewhat speculative, and fans have to wait and watch for the coming months.
