WWE Confirms Huge Raw vs SmackDown Battle for Next Week

Survivor Series is still a couple of months away. However, it seems like inter-brand battles have already started. This week on Monday Night Raw, the SmackDown Tag Team Champions made a shocking appearance!

Cesaro and Nakamura came out on the red brand and laid down a massive challenge. Next week, they will collide with the Raw Tag Team Champions, Street Profits.

Montez and Ford faced Angel Garza and Andrade for the umpteenth time tonight. However, this time their battle had a sense of finality.

Garza sensed midway that his team was fighting a losing battle. As a result, he abandoned his partner, leaving him vulnerable to a double onslaught.

Andrade couldn’t hold the fort for long and was pinned by the Street Profits. After this, Cesaro and Nakamura came out to challenge the Raw Champions for a “Clash of Champions” next week.

Why are Cesaro and Nakamura on Raw?

It’s difficult to put a finger on any particular reason. However, the sheer lack of depth in both the tag team divisions can be a very big factor.

As mentioned earlier, the Street Profits have faced Garza and Andrade more times than we can remember. They’ve already had a protracted programme with The Viking Raiders. Now, there’s no one left in the division who can believably challenge them.

Cesaro and Nakamura face a similar predicament. Apart from them, the other tag teams on SmackDown are Heavy Machinery, Miz and Morrison, and the Lucha House Party. None of these teams are really seen as title contenders at the moment.

Faced with this huge adversity, WWE was only left with one option – the one that they executed tonight. Who knows, the company might be looking to merge the tag team divisions.

A similar arrangement is in place for the women’s division. To be honest, that division looks stronger than its men’s counterpart.

We might be in for the beggining of a title reunification war. Do you think that’s the route WWE will take? Let us know in the comments section.
